Mark Jaccard

Mark Jaccard is a professor of sustainable energy at Simon Fraser University in B.C.  He has helped many governments with climate-energy policy. He is a member of the Royal Society of Canada and his earlier book, Sustainable Fossil Fuels won the Donner Prize. His book, The Citizen's Guide to Climate Success: Overcoming Myths That Hinder Progress has been nominated for the 2020 Donner Prize, the best public policy book in Canada. 


Canada’s unnecessary carbon tax detour

The climate threat is too important to allow any discipline to mislead us. Carbon taxes are not essential. We need to reduce GHG emissions at a good pace and it’s likely easier if we don’t waste money. Let’s focus on advancing and defending the policies that have a better chance politically.
