All-Indigenous steering body for Senate committee brings ‘invaluable’ experience to table, say members
The Senate Committee on Indigenous Peoples is now chaired by Quebec Senator Michèle Audette, who has picked up the gavel for the first time since joining the Red Chamber.
In what’s understood to be a historic first, the Senate Committee on Indigenous Peoples has a steering committee made up entirely of Indigenous Senators, something its members say lends “invaluable” experience to deliberations.
