On Sept. 18, amid rising concerns about affordability and food price inflation, Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne met in Ottawa with the CEOs of Canada's largest grocery retailers. His department is also working on amendments to the Competition Act.

The Liberal government's proposed changes to the Competition Act in an effort to address rising grocery prices are drawing mixed reviews from experts in the field, while the NDP is calling for the government to “come on board” with a proposal of its own.
