Bring Senate expense-claim disputes out of ‘arbitrary,’ ‘secretive’ meetings: Sen. McPhedran

The Senator wants all consideration of travel claims to be done in the open, but critics say appealing rejected claims casts a shadow over the Upper Chamber’s already tarnished expense-related reputation.
Independent Senator Marilou McPhedran appeared before the Senate Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets, and Administration on Dec. 7 to contest a rejected travel-expense claim and the process by which the claim was denied. She will appear before the committee again on Dec. 14 as part of a separate expense-claim appeal.
