Gander Social pitches sovereignty in social spaces with Canadian-made app

If Canada wants a stronger domestic technology sector, home-grown firms have to build. Governments have to create the conditions for them to succeed. And when credible Canadian alternatives exist, our institutions and leaders have to be willing to use them. 
Gander Social bills itself as a sovereign, Canadian-made social network. Ottawa’s efforts to require large foreign streaming services to contribute to Canadian culture have been treated in Washington, D.C., as a trade irritant, writes founder Ben Waldman.
