We must put aside differences and work together

We have the opportunity and the urgent need to work together to solve problems: by volunteering, sharing, participating in our democracy, supporting the environment, building our economy through the value and impact of volunteer service. We must put aside differences and work together.

If each of us joined one of this nation's volunteer groups, the results on a national scale would be visible, impressive, and truly meaningful. If half the population volunteered one hour a week at approximately the minimum wage, the result would be a contribution of over $20-billion a year, writes Roseann O'Reilly Runte.
