Whether it’s a fundraiser or it comes from government coffers, Canadians are paying to renovate 24 Sussex Drive, so putting a cap out feels like a cop out.
The design competition and fundraising drive announced last week to rehabilitate 24 Sussex Drive still feels like the job is only going to get half done.

It’s good that something is finally being done about 24 Sussex Drive. That the prime minister’s residence has been inhabitable and vacant for more than a decade is a sad state of affairs. And calling the house a “symbol of the nation” is accurate probably in more way...
