Opposition MPs critical of Liberals’ shakeup of House committees: ‘they stacked them on steroids,’ says Conservative MP Brassard

The Liberals have adjusted the makeup of House committees to reflect their new majority, shifting to a structure of seven Liberal members, four Conservatives, and one Bloc Québécois member on Liberal-chaired committees, compared to the previous four-four-one structure.
Government House Leader Steven MacKinnon said in an emailed statement to The Hill Times on May 6 that there is an 'undeniable, long-standing principle in Parliament' that a party that has the majority of seats in the House also has a majority in committees.

A recent restructuring of House committees is intended to reflect the majority government the Liberals now, according to the government House leader, but opposition MPs argue that the math doesn’t add up to fair representation.
