Treasury Board president can’t ‘pick and choose’ when to release info to PBO about potential public service cuts, says Conservative MP Kelly

The Parliament of Canada Act grants the parliamentary budget officer access to information, but Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali says it would have been 'unfair' to provide it to the PBO ahead of public servants.
Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali told the House Government Operations and Estimates Committee on Nov. 27 that the Parliamentary Budget Office's requested timeline was 'unreasonable.'

The parliamentary budget officer's inability to acquire key information regarding pending cuts to the public service ahead of a crucial budget vote earlier this month could be considered "unlawful," says Conservative MP Pat Kelly.
