Defence spending boost useless without clarity of purpose

It’s important to give the people who’ve pledged to stand at the ready to protect Canada what they need to do their job. But there has to be a plan of attack for spending.

Since Nov. 5, there has been plenty of hand-wringing in some circles over how the incoming United States president will react to Canada’s slow roll towards meeting the NATO target of spending two per cent of our GDP on defence.
