Rodriguez quits cabinet to sit as an Independent, triggering a cabinet shuffle

On Thursday, Pablo Rodriguez announced his resignation from cabinet, and said he plans to sit as an Independent MP while he runs for the Quebec provincial Liberal leadership.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Quebec lieutenant Pablo Rodriguez stepped down from cabinet on Sept. 19 to pursue the provincial Quebec Liberal leadership. He will, however, stay on as an Independent MP.

Pablo Rodriguez resigned as transport minister and Quebec lieutenant on Thursday to sit as an Independent as he pursues the Quebec provincial Liberal leadership, sparking a same-day cabinet shuffle.
