Report finds RCMP officers six times more likely to screen positive for any mental health disorder than general population

The analysis found that recruits are typically more mentally healthy than the general population, but RCMP commissioner Mike Duheme says policing across the country is getting more difficult and violent.

A report from the union representing nearly 20,000 RCMP members shows a significantly higher prevalence of suicidal behaviours and mental health disorders among officers—including post traumatic stress disorder and major depression—compared to the general population.
