Upper Chamber to vote on ending debate early on Thursdays to give Senators a chance to get to the airport

The office of Senator Marc Gold says he introduced the motion at the request of the leadership of all recognized groups in the Red Chamber. But non-affiliated Senator Mary Jane McCallum says the change would limit time for non-government business, and Senator Marilou McPhedran says this would jeopardize the ‘kind of representation’ Senators are responsible for providing.
The Senate generally sits on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays starting at 2 p.m., with a 4 p.m. cutoff on Wednesdays and a midnight cutoff on the other two days.

The leaders of all the recognized parties and groups in the Red Chamber have put forward a motion to cut off debate at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, a measure that one Senator says could mean there are weeks where the Senate will only sit for 10 hours.
