Firearms legislation about ‘preventing harms,’ says Senate committee chair ahead of fall discussions

Bill C-21, the Liberal government's firearms legislation, will be up for consideration by the Senate’s Defence Committee this fall.
A spokesperson for Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc said the measures contained in Bill C-21 'will help make our communities safer by strengthening gun control and increasing maximum sentences for gun traffickers,' in an emailed statement.

Advocacy groups for gun control and gun owner rights are preparing to make their cases this fall in the Senate regarding the Liberal government’s firearms legislation: a bill that the chair of the Senate Defence Committee frames as “regulation to prevent harms.”
