Silence overshadows Canada’s work on Cameroonian peace six months after rebuff

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly announced in January that Canada had a 'mandate' to facilitate Cameroonian peace talks, but little has come of the effort since the Cameroonian government rejected that any such agreement was in place.

Six months after officials publicly denied a Canadian declaration that it had a mandate to facilitate Cameroon’s peace process, the effort has generated little noise, with some suggesting it is paused and others saying the peace-facilitation work is not yet dead.
