Feds not off the hook on mental health spending
For too long, the government has relied on these not-for-profit organizations to fill the gaps in basic health care, without adequately funding them. Looking forward, the federal government must engage the provinces to ensure these neglected community services are funded within the bilateral agreements. They also need to directly fund community-based services as a critical part of our mental health system.

The government’s recent attempts to address Canada’s mental health crisis demonstrate it is out of touch with the reality that people can’t access or afford the care they need.
