NDP and Conservatives could find common ground to battle food inflation

The NDP and the Conservatives have different approaches to tackling rising food prices, but they are on the same page about improving competition laws for big grocery retailers. Agriculture expert Sylvain Charlebois said he's 'never seen a committee so united.'
On Dec. 5, four Canadian universities published Canada’s Food Price Report 2023, which predicts food prices will continue to rise between five and seven per cent in 2023, with the cost of vegetables, dairy, and meat rising the most.

The NDP and the Conservative parties spent much of the last week focused on rising food prices, and while they have ideologically opposed approaches, they are finding common ground.
