More aggressive short-term climate goals needed in aviation sector, say NDP, climate activists

A goal for the aviation industry to source 10 per cent of fuel from sustainable sources by 2030 was set in the Liberal government's aviation climate action plan.
Transport Minister Omar Alghabra released the Liberal government’s aviation climate action plan on Sept. 27, which set a target of net-zero emissions for Canada’s aviation sector by 2050.

Emissions reduction targets for the aviation sector laid out in the Liberal government’s climate action plan don’t go far enough, according to the NDP transport critic and climate activists, who want to see more aggressive short-term goals set for the end of the decade.
