Comparing ‘freedom’ protest to other social movements is unfair and dangerous, says MP, activists

The difference between the 'freedom' demonstration and other social movements is made clear by the presence of white supremacists and the lack of action taken by police, despite widespread feelings of unsafety and reports of hate crimes in the Ottawa community, experienced organizers say. 
The Terry Fox statue was dressed up in Canadian flags, a hat, and made to carry a 'Mandate Freedom' sign in support of the anti-vaccine-mandate protesters. Conservative MP Candice Bergen compared this to the beheading of colonial statues of Queen Victoria and Sir John A. Macdonald.
