We must unite and end ‘conversion therapy’ in Canada

More elected officials are coming out and openly identifying as LGBTQ2, which forces reflection on long-held values and beliefs. Out and vocal MPs like Eric Duncan are changing the face of the Conservative Party of Canada. It’s much harder to openly discriminate against LGBTQ2 people when you are sitting across from them at the caucus table.

Alan Turing, a brilliant mathematician, was famous for helping the allies defeat Nazi Germany by cracking the ‘Enigma’ code. As a result of his genius, Turing is considered one of the founding pioneers of computing science and artificial intelligence. What is lesser known is his arrest for homosexuality in 1952 and his requirement to undergo chemical castration as a form of conversion therapy designed to suppress his 'homosexual urges.'
