In May, the government launched the Airport Critical Infrastructure Program, which would provide $489.6-million over five years to assist Canada’s larger airports for such projects as runway repairs, airfield lighting enhancements, investments in terminal buildings, and transit stations to ensure connectivity to mass transit systems. But the Airports Council says airport authorities need more financial assistance than that, as well as the Airport Relief Fund—also unveiled in May—which will provide $64.8-million in funding to airports whose 2019 revenues were less than $250-million.
