Peter MacKay’s security detail another sign of trouble in Canadian politics

Peter MacKay, pictured in this file photograph on the Hill. The Toronto Star reported July 28 that Mr. MacKay hired 'emergency close protection' for his family during the race in which he finished second last year. He hired the bodyguards after threats were made on social media against his wife, Nazanin Afshin-Jam, and children, including photos of them with targets on their faces, The Star reported.
News that Peter MacKay felt compelled to hire a personal security detail during his run for the Conservative Party leadership is another sign that Canada’s political culture is becoming more polarized, and more dangerous.  T...
