Defending sluggish vaccine rollout, Hajdu says feds anticipated low volume of doses

The government has struck a deal with Novavax to produce its vaccine in Montreal at the National Research Council's new biomanufacturing facility. The facility is expected to be constructed by the late summer, but with operations starting sometime in the fall.
Health Minister Patty Hajdu says she expects the immunization campaign to ramp up over time with the anticipated addition of vaccines that don't require two doses.
Health Minister Patty Hajdu defended Canada’s immunization campaign before a parliamentary committee on Tuesday, saying she anticipates a smoother rollout as it progresses, because more vaccines will likely be approved in the months ahead.
