LeBlanc appoints ex-Liberal staffer Primerano to independent Senate selection committee—says he was Doug Ford’s choice

Anthony Primerano will serve on what the government calls an independent, non-partisan advisory board on Senate appointments. He worked as a chief of staff for a former Liberal Veterans Affairs minister, and Ottawa says he was recommended for the new job by Ontario's Progressive Conservative government.
Privy Council President Dominic LeBlanc announced the appointment of two Ontario members of the Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments on Dec. 11, including Anthony Primerano, who worked as a high-level staffer in the Paul Martin Liberal government in which Mr. LeBlanc was the deputy government whip. Mr. Primerano was recommended for the job by Doug Ford's Ontario government, according to Mr. LeBlanc's spokesperson.
Privy Council President Dominic LeBlanc appointed a former Liberal chief of staff to the Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments earlier this month, but his office says Doug Ford's government recommended the former Grit for the job.
