Feds’ mid-year revenue fell by nearly 22 per cent during pandemic

The government is expecting to earn almost $60-billion less this year than it did last, as it continues to spend billions in borrowed money to keep the economy afloat.
Treasury Board President Jean-Yves Duclos and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland are responsible for the federal government's spending. They released several documents at the end of November detailing government spending for last year, this year, and projections for future years.
The federal government brought in 21.5 per cent less revenue from April to September this year as the country battled the COVID-19 pandemic than it did during the same period last year, a recently released document from Finance Canada shows.
