Mexico calls on Canada to maintain new measures protecting migrant workers

Inspections, national housing standards, and continuing a binational contact group are among key commitments Mexico would like from Canada, says its consular head in Ottawa.
Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough said late last month the government will consult about establishing minimum requirements for employer-provided accommodations under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. The Mexican Embassy says national standards for housing has been a 'longstanding issue' and one that should be addressed before next season.
