Demolition work well underway in the Centre Block

Workers are currently removing the painted canvas that lined the ceiling of the House of Commons Chamber and stained glass from the Memorial Chamber for restoration.
Recognize this? A north-south connecting hallway on the Senate side of the sixth floor of Centre Block is pictured on Aug. 24, stripped back to its bare bones. Demolition and abatement work in the building began in late 2019 and has been projected to take 18 months to complete.
The renovation of Parliament Hill’s iconic building, the Centre Block, saw little impact from the outbreak of COVID-19, and demolition and abatement efforts are now well underway, particularly on the top floors, which are being stripped back to bare bones.
