The Conservative Party's longest-serving MP, Deepak Obhrai, died on Aug. 2. He was 69.
Then a Reform MP, Mr. Obhrai first won a seat in the House of Commons in 1997. He went on to be re-elected subsequently as an Alliance and Conservative MP over the next six elections.
