The historic Chateau Laurier sits on 1 Rideau St. The owner's proposed addition of seven storeys will add 147 rooms to the hotel, but critics point to a boxy design they feel will take away from the historic beauty and view of the site.
Members of Parliament and Senators are joining a growing list of civil servants, experts, and citizens in expressing or relaying opposition to plans for a controversial addition to the historic Château Laurier Hotel, with one Senator calling it a “monstrosity.”
