Supreme Court says restrictions on expats’ voting rights unconstitutional

In a majority 5-2 decision, the top court overturned the appeals court ruling, ruling that the Canada Elections Act provisions that strip Canadian citizens’ right to vote federally if they’ve lived abroad for more than five years could not be justified.
