House committee spending dipped to $2.6-million last year, more reports released

In the last fiscal year, House committees spent about $2.55-million, down from $3.26-million in 2016-17.
Conservative MP and Liaison Committee vice-chair Tom Lukiwski said the higher travels costs in the previous two years compared to the late Harper years may have been due to a 2014 NDP procedural trick, in which the party withheld committee travel consent in order to protest the lack of consultation on the Conservatives' controversial Fair Elections Act.
