Conservatives’ top first quarter fundraising reveals strong base, taps into frustration, backlash against Liberal gaffes, say strategists

New fundraising numbers put the Conservatives almost double the governing Grits, bringing in $6-million to start 2018.

The latest quarter shows the Conservatives full-steam ahead of the Liberals, raking in $6,010,812 from 40,184 contributors compared to the Grits’ $3,307,772 from 28,960, according to Elections Canada. In distant third, the NDP raised $1,372,760 from 16,132 donors.
