Liberals’ major new elections bill to undercut Conservatives’ spending advantage during campaigns

The creation of a pre-writ period with a spending limit will also push parties to start running political ads well before the campaign officially begins, says Yaroslav Baran.
Acting Democratic Institutions Minister Scott Brison introduced the Elections Modernization Act into the House of Commons April 30. The wide-ranging bill changes rules for privacy, campaigning, and advertising for political parties and other organizations.
