Constituents support Canada’s hands-off approach on Jerusalem, say MPs

While the Canadian consensus is to push for a peaceful two-state solution, the Conservative Party is currently looking to clarify its position on the status of Jerusalem.
Conservative MP Peter Kent, who represents Thornhill, Ont., said although there is a vast range of opinions in his riding on the status of Jerusalem, the majority support the city's status being resolved as part of a two-state solution negotiation. Thornhill has one of the largest Jewish populations in the country.
MPs with large Jewish populations in their ridings said constituents mostly agree with Canada’s stance on the question of Jerusalem despite the United States’ controversial decision to formally recognize the city as Israel’s capital.
