All major parties to ‘double down’ on 129 ridings won by 10 per cent or less margin, includes eight cabinet ministers

Liberals won 54 ridings by 10 per cent or less of the vote in the last election, the Conservatives 38, the NDP 29 and the Bloc eight.
Among the 54 Liberals who won these close contests, eight are cabinet ministers who were elected for the first time in 2015. They include Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi (Edmonton Mill Woods, Alta.), Environment Minister Catherine McKenna (Ottawa Centre, Ont.), Veterans Affairs Minister Kent Hehr (Calgary Centre, Alta.), Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Jean-Yves Duclos (Québec, Que.), Democratic Institutions Minister Karina Gould (Burlington, Ont.), International Development Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau, Health Minister Jane Philpott and Status of Women Minister Maryam Monsef.
