Feds funnelling another $142-million into beleaguered Phoenix payroll system

That brings the total cost of fixing the new system to higher than the original cost of implementing it. The government is aiming to hire 200 temporary staff with the new money.
Steven MacKinnon, parliamentary secretary to the minister of Public Services and Procurement and MP for Gatineau, Que., said that as the MP for a region with a high concentration of federal employees, he knows 'firsthand' the 'difficult and stressful situations' people are facing as the result of getting underpaid, overpaid, or not paid at all due to the problem-plagued pay system.
