Food processing gaps, transportation weaknesses, and varying industry-imposed quotas in provinces are some of the hurdles preventing Canada from being a global leader in the food industry, say those within the sector.
There are parts of the country where food is grown, and it's easier to export it outside of Canada's borders than it is to sell it to another domestic region, leaving a gap for the import market to fill, some experts say.
