Cabinet documents show the prestigious title for newly elected Peterborough-Kawartha, Ont., MP Maryam Monsef also came with legally assigned responsibility for Elections Canada, the chief electoral officer of Canada and federal election and referendum legislation.
The youngest woman in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Cabinet, who arrived in Canada with her family as a child refugee from Afghanistan 20 years ago, was quietly named President of the Queen’s Privy Council in Canada.
