Senate claims Parliamentary privilege on secret 2013 internal audit at Duffy trial

Suspended Senator Mike Duffy's lawyer Donald Bayne mentioned the secret internal audit—which is not a public document because the government did not table it in the Senate—rocked the ranks of news media covering the trial Monday and led to off-the-record background comments from Mr. Bayne and Crown prosecutor Mark Holmes.

The Senate is resisting attempts by suspended Senator Mike Duffy’s lawyer to get a secret 2013 internal audit on the Upper Chamber’s expenses into court as possible evidence for questioning in Sen. Duffy’s trial on fraud, breach of trust, and bribery charges.
