Gun control? In America, still a sad and deadly charade

According to Slate’s tracking, there have been more than 8,200 gun deaths in the U.S. between the Dec. 14, 2012, massacre of 20 schoolchildren and eight staff at Sandy Hook in Newtown, Conn., and the Sept. 16 mass shooting of 12 personnel at the Washington Navy Yard.
