MP Del Mastro faces four charges of allegedly exceeding 2008 campaign spending, out of Conservative caucus

Prime Minister Stephen Harper relieved Peterborough Conservative MP Dean Del Mastro of his duties as Parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister only seven days prior to an announcement Thursday by Canada’s federal elections commissioner that Mr. Del Mastro had been charged with four counts related to violation of Elections Act spending limits and reporting requirements.
