Harper, Mulcair and ‘active-negative’ leadership style: where power trumps harmony and virtue
If the political ends are for the retention and sustenance of power, then the active-negative style is clearly preferred. Yet if the ends are to bolster voter participation rates, rehabilitate the reputation of politicians and counter a generalized public cynicism, a more positive approach is in order.
