Per-vote subsidy could be eliminated starting in 2012
Language in the Conservative Party’s election platform indicates the subsidy will be lowered as Prime Minister Stephen Harper promised over a three-year period—reaching zero by April 1, 2015, the next federal election year.
PARLIAMENT HILL—The opposition parties may have a year’s reprieve before the Conservative government begins winding down a $2-per-vote subsidy based on the support each party receives in federal elections.
