Political parties disagree on sweeping reforms to Senate

Harper-appointed Senators pledged support for Senate reform, but it's unclear how many will resign if eight-year term limits don't pass.

The government has tabled two Senate reform bills, one to bring in Senate elections, the other to limit Senators' terms to eight years, but while the opposition parties agree the Upper Chamber needs to be reformed there is no consensus on what that should look like.
