Reforming access to information: some unsolicited advice for the Liberal Party’s election platform
In the next general election, the Liberal Party should feature a detailed proposal to greatly revise the outmoded and near toothless Access to Information Act of 1983. Such a proposal would be both good politics and good policy.
Michael Ignatieff and the Liberal Party have been roundly criticized for lacking a political vision or even a reasonably-detailed set of policy proposals that would differentiate them from the incumbent Conservatives led by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
