Tories target key Guelph bellweather riding

Locked in a game of chicken over triggering a fall election, the parties hope a good showing in the byelections will mean good fortune in the next general election.

The Conservatives think they have the best shot at winning Guelph, Ont., of the three upcoming byelections on Sept. 8, and are using Cabinet ministers, resources from the Prime Minister's Office, youth volunteers, and partisan political pamphlets to win the bellweather riding.
