Nelson to all lobbyists: assume your lobbying is going to be public

The 10-year statute of limitations in the new Lobbying Act will allow for investigations and charges as much as a decade after the event in question.

Canada's new commissioner of lobbyists shouldn't need to encourage a culture of "ratting out" unregistered lobbyists because the world of lobbying is more transparent than before, the federal Registrar of Lobbyists, Michael Nelson, said at a briefing on the new lobbying regulations last week.
