KINGSTON, ONT. –It was Sept. 4, 2001, and as I drove home from the Kingston Whig-Standard I felt like a very lucky man. Despite the lousy pay, the hours and the occasional public disdain, being a reporter comes with its own special moments. And on that day, I'd just had one of them.
