Divisive debate awaits Bill C-55
A government bill to protect worker wages and pensions doesn't go far enough for some, such as the NDP's Pat Martin who's championed the cause in Parliament, but is too far-reaching for the country's largest and most influential financial institutions.
Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but for an opposition MP, that's not always the case when the government bumps your private member's bill off the agenda by pledging to adopt similar legislative reform of its own.
