Two backbench MPs are poised to trigger emotional debates on crossing the floor this fall with separate private member's bills that would ban the controversial practice.

Backbench MPs Peter Stoffer of the NDP and Joe Preston of the Conservative Party are in line to introduce private member's bills this fall on banning MPs from crossing the floor, in separate moves that promise to open old wounds suffered during the last session.
